The city’s Recycling & Trash page is the starting point for on-demand bulky collection and drop-off events. These are different services: one involves arranging collection and the other requires transporting your own items to an event.

Check current eligibility, fees, accepted items and event instructions directly with the city before loading a vehicle or setting anything outside. An old event announcement is not a current appointment. If your home or complex uses another provider, ask that provider about bulky-item service.

Separate the furniture from the project material

List the sofa, shelves and mattress individually. Keep bags of household clutter separate from wood, tile, dirt or other project leftovers. “Garage cleanout” describes a space, but it does not tell a city program or a hauler what material will be loaded.

Set aside chemicals, fuel, wet paint, pressurized tanks and unknown containers for the appropriate specialist route. Those items are not part of a standard Peak Elevation pickup. Heavy material also needs its own review, even when the pile looks small.

Match the option to the job

If you can wait and move an accepted item to the required collection point, an on-demand city-program pickup may fit. If you have suitable transport, a current drop-off event may help with eligible material. If the furniture is still useful, seek donation approval before committing to a disposal route.

Inside lifting, basement access or multiple types of material may make a private pickup worth comparing. Request an itemized scope and a complete price so you can compare the work involved, not just a starting fee. Donated furniture and waste may need separate plans.

• Donation: send condition photos and wait for the organization’s acceptance.
• Self-haul: confirm the receiving site and arrange safe transport before loading.
• Private haul: share the item list and the complete path to the loading spot.

Show the access at your particular property

For a pickup near Olde Town, explain where a vehicle can load and whether an alley or shared lot is involved. At a foothills-side property, include photos of any sloped driveway or steps. For a townhome, note gates, shared access and anything the HOA needs coordinated.

These details describe your property; they should not be guessed from the neighborhood name. Take one photo of the full pile, close-ups of the largest items and a short sequence showing the route outside. If you cannot safely move an item, leave it in place for the access review.

Confirm one complete plan before pickup day

Keep the items going separate from tools, keepsakes and stored furniture that stays. Add anything new to the inventory before the quote is finalized. A pile that grows after approval can require a revised scope, different help or another trip.
